Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
The 2018 Alexander Valley Estate is a ripe, robust edition of our flagship. It is, as ever, one hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon blended from all three of our estate vineyards. Fruit from our mountain vineyard, named Pyramid, makes up more than half the blend with the balance close to evenly split between our other two ranches - Red Winery and Stone. The nose on the 2018 shows black cherry, cassis, fig, and chocolate. But all that ripe fruit bellies a decided tannic palate and grippy, dry finish. The tannin of the 2018 reminds me of good year in Bordeaux, the fruit reminds me of a good year in Alexander Valley. Drink fall 2022 through New Year's Eve, 2040.
