Finch's Crest Tempranillo 2013

a Tempranillo from Sierra FoothillsCA
$30 per bottle

This Tempranillo fruit was grown in the Sierra Foothills in northern California. Noted for its warm days and cool evening climate this area provides a perfect growing season for an early maturing wine grape. With forward red fruit flavors of plum, cherry and strawberry mixed with earthy minerality, tomato-sauce and vanilla, all are supported by medium tannin to form a pleasing balance. Ours is a diverse food-pairing wine. Enjoy with Mexican, Italian, and American meat dishes as well as other cuisine.

F. Teldeschi Winery

F. Teldeschi Winery sits above the general store at 3555 Dry Creek Rd in Healdsburg, CA. Go west off of Hwy 101 about 3.2 miles to the stop sign and turn right up the paved driveway to the winery.

We are a small production winery selling the oldest vintages of premium wines found anywhere in Dry Creek Valley. These wines are available in limited quantities

Teldeschi Vineyards sits on 75 acres in various parts of Dry Creek Valley.  Teldeschi Farms grow Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, a little Valdique, some Malvasia, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines range in age from one year to one hundred and ten years. "Three-quarters of them were planted by my dad," says John, "and most of them are Zinfandel. Zinfandel was his favorite. He always thought it would be what it is today."

John's father, Frank Teldeschi, died in 1985. He came to California from Italy in 1929, following in the footsteps of his forebears. Frank's grandfather Michele arrived at the turn of the century from Casabasciana, a Tuscan village northeast of Lucca, where the family raised chestnuts, olives, and hemp.

John is now the family grapegrower, though Caterina continues to own the vineyards. She pays for chemicals and fertilizers; John pays for equipment and labor. Dan is the Winemaker and sells the product of the family's years of toil. So continues the fourth generation of Teldeschi winemaking to date.
