Lumiere winery is a labor of love and a love of nature. Planted in 1980, the old vines were originally Sauvignon blanc of which six acres still are. In 1987, the Kleiner family purchased the 21 acre vineyard property and began their life of growing grapes. Dr Ezra Kleiner, his wife Martha, and their son Andrew grew grapes for Northern California‘s Glen Ellen Winery at first, followed by Callaway and other local wineries throughout the years.
Andrew knew from a young age that there was something very special about grapes. “Grapes made the wines that my dad drank with his most elegant meals. I knew he loved great food, but, I could see a distinct change in his behavior when the wine cellar was opened. Wine seemed to have life and happiness in it. Wine seemed to bring love into the world around me as I would see my dad savor every sip and share his smile.” Ezra left his body in 2006. His light still shines filtered through Andrew.
