The property that is now our family hillside estate vineyard in Dry Creek Valley was planted as the early 1900's. Today, our ten-acre vineyard is divided into six small blocks of Syrah and five small blocks of Viognier. The vineyard blocks scale hillsides with slopes ranging from 20% to 45%. Long sunny temperate days with morning fog and cooling evening breezes provide perfect natural elements for growing Syrah and Viognier.
In 1999 our seventeen-acre property had six hillside acres planted to Syrah. We added plantings of Syrah and plantings of Viognier, and currently have 10 acres planted. In addition to grapevines, we planted Spanish and Tuscan olive trees. The ranch also has fruit trees like persimmon, fig and plum, a substantial enclosed vegetable and cut flower garden, and a 'Magic Forest' that includes bay, oak, fir, and majestic redwood trees. There are dozens of antique rose plants which includes one of our favorites, the climbing rose, Sally Holmes.
