Named after Dr. Pangloss, the eternal optimist in Voltaire’s novel Candide, Pangloss Cellars is a celebration of optimism as the ideal way to approach life. The Pangloss wines are made by Erich Bradley, who takes an Old World and minimalist approach, using hand-picked and hand-sorted grapes, open-top fermenters and French oak barrels. His goal is to craft small batches of elegant and accessible wines that above all exhibit balance and complexity.
The Pangloss wines are made at its sister winery Repris on Moon Mountain and barrel aged deep in the natural rock caves behind the winery. The Pangloss Cellars Tasting Lounge was conceived as an alternative to traditional tasting rooms. The space both defines Pangloss Cellars and embodies its core values: it is welcoming, authentic, optimistic, unpretentious and social – a warm and beautiful, historic place to enjoy the sensory experience of fine wine. With over 4,000 square feet of space, Pangloss Cellars is able to offer a series of different experiences tailored to exactly the way each guest prefers to enjoy wine.In Candide, Dr. Pangloss said that mankind lives in “the best of all possible worlds.” In Sonoma, the Pangloss Cellars team believes they have indeed found the best of all possible worlds. The Pangloss wines are simply the team’s humble attempt to share their love for everything Sonoma has to offer.
