Martian Ranch & Vineyard is a biodynamically farmed vineyard located in the recently established Alisos Canyon AVA in Los Alamos, California. With its own unique microclimate, typically 10 degrees cooler than the Santa Ynez Valley and 10 degrees warmer than Santa Maria, we have warm days and very cold nights allowing our grapes to achieve incredible concentration and balance. Our "moon dust" soil is well aerated and mainly comprised of shaley clay loam.
Martian vineyard is the creation of proprietor Nan Helgeland. The name Martian comes from blending the names of her two sons, Martin and Ian.
Nan's drive to find the perfect plot of land for growing the varietals that she has chosen, and her genuine love of nature, speak to her vision and uncompromising standards.
