On the palate, the entry is rich and firm, followed by sweet blueberry compote and mouth coating soft tannins. Continually balanced throughout on its characteristic acid backbone, this wine finishes with rich blueberry and spice, leaving you ready to line up for the ride all over again....

Our third drought year, 2014 brought us beautifully ripe fruit at our chilly Azaya Ranch Vineyard. The warm and heat-spike-free summer and fall let us hang the fruit well into the harvest, bringing in the vineyard at the tail end of our pinot picks on September 18 (only Devil's Gulch, our other Marin vineyard, was later). The wine shows its cold climate roots from nose to finish, showcasing the high-toned and juicy fruit profile on exceptionally smooth and silky tannins. The nose leads with red cherry and cranberry, with a touch of beet-like earthiness, foretelling of a fresh and complex....

Our inaugural Redwood Ridge Pinot Noir showcases everything we love about wines from the steep slopes of the Sonoma Coast: a solid core of juicy, lush fruit flavors framed by floral and earthy characters. The wine leads with dark bramblelaced blackberry and boysenberry, accented with rosehips, lavender and cigar box spice notes. With time in the glass, the fruit becomes even more rich, decadent and brooding, with black cherry and plum notes taking the lead with a touch of sassafras peeking out from behind....

The weather in 2014 was so perfect, even our usually fog-shrouded vineyard in Freestone saw plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. Our cooler coastal sites love warm summers and temperate fall weather, and reward us with generous, rich, elegant fruit. Our harvest at Freestone was early as everything else was, coming in at the middle of the pinot pack on September 13....
