Angelita Vineyard and Winery is located in Angus just outside of Corsicana and is "Navarro County’s first and only vineyard and winery." The winery is owned by Beverly and Rodney Spahn. The winery is managed by Beverly while Rodney is the winemaker and vineyard manager.
Angelita Vineyard & Winery started by a conversation with my husband and our desire to do something different with our land. "Experts say to do something that you love to do and it won't seem like work." Well, we both love wine and after doing a bit of research, we found that vineyards are expanding in Texas since it is a growing industry, and there was a high demand for wine grapes. We also found that Texas is making some award-winning wines.
So we did some preparation to the soil and land and decided to plant 200 Blanc du Bois vines to see how they grew. These vines were planted in the Spring of 2010, the same month my mother-in-law passed away after a battle with cancer. Her name was Angelita, which means "Little Angel" in Spanish. She truly was an Angel.
