On a trip to Paso Robles years ago, Douglas Ayres was awed by the beauty of the land, the warmth of the people and the promising wine region. While later traveling through some of the most celebrated wine and cultural areas of the world, the memory of Paso Robles inspired him to return with a vision of owning vineyards, making world-class wine and developing a destination driven wine country resort. The realization of his dream began with the purchase of a seventeen-acre premium cabernet sauvignon vineyard in the famed Willow Creek District. This was followed by the purchase of a twenty-acre pasture land where he planted eight-acres of vines with viognier, vermentino, malbec, tannat and cabernet sauvignon. The step in fulfilling his dream was developing the luxurious Allegretto Resort. The first vintage of Allegretto Wines was 2010. Since this time numerous Allegretto Wines have being recognized within the local and international wine communities, including being awarded multiple gold and double gold medals.
