Mountain Terraces Vineyard, with its rocky and iron-rich volcanic soil, is mainly planted to low-yielding Cabernet Sauvignon vines with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Syrah, Grenache and Viognier. There are two different root stocks and five different clones planted in the vineyard for Cabernet Sauvignon, creating different layers of aromas, flavor and texture in the wine. The Cabernet Franc is planted on one root stock and two clones. The other varietals are single clone varietals planted on three different root stocks.
