This wine is delightfully deep and effusive. Vivid flavors of black cherry and blackcurrant preserves play off notes of fresh tarragon and cracked pepper. The silky, concentrated texture is balanced with just the right amount of grip and mouthwatering acidity to finish on a wave of freshness. Dusi Vineyard is found on the west side of Paso Robles in an expansive landscape of undulating hills bathed in Californian sunshine. Originally planted by the Dusi family in 1945, to this day two generations are working together, farming the land with the family’s traditional, hands-on approach. The dry farmed, head-trained vines we source from were planted in the 1980’s and are impressively resilient in limiting, rocky, alluvial soil. The fruit, maturing under the greatest diurnal temperature variation of all Californian AVAs, retains vibrant acidity while developing an intense berry profile distinguished by untamed spice notes of black pepper and licorice.

BACA Wines

When we set out to create BACA, we had one mission in mind: to make luxury, craft Zinfandels that are nuanced, honest, and current. Wine for people like us: the curious, the adventuresome, the lovers of life, with a gleam in their eye and a penchant for the uncharted.


BACA is Latin for berry, so that’s where we started. Bounding headlong into some of California’s most noted growing regions—Calistoga, Russian River, Rockpile, Howell Mountain, and Paso Robles—we sourced the most intriguing fruit for our wines. Grapes from gorgeously old vines and historic areas, which we transformed using masterful winemaking techniques into wines that reflect the unique places in which they’re grown. The result is 8 complex, charismatic Zinfandels, and a few other delectable curveballs. All of which pair beautifully well with both food and adventure.

BACA Wines is led by third-generation vintner, Jennifer Brown. Prior to working at HALL, WALT and BACA Wines, Jennifer was the founder of Omghow/Girl Karma Inc., a social platform and positive destination for teen girls. Jennifer grew up in the wine industry and is the daughter of Vintner Kathryn Walt Hall. Some of her fondest childhood memories are skipping through her family’s Zinfandel vineyards in Redwood Valley with her brother.

Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Northwestern University and went on to receive both a Master’s in Business Administration and a Law Degree from Stanford University. Jennifer is fluent in German, which she learned when her mother served as Ambassador to Austria. She is an avid hiker and yoga enthusiast, incorporating wellness and healthy living as a core part of her personal and professional regimen. In her free time, she loves to travel, explore new experiences, and spend time with family and friends. Jennifer resides in San Francisco with her husband, Eric Brown, and their two daughters.
